The Guildhall, Worcester

The Guildhall, High Street, Worcester is the venue for the 55+ and Retirement Roadshow. The show opens at 9-30 and closes at 2-30 and for those with satnav, the postcode  is WR1 2EY.

Worcester is an excellent location at the heart of a beautiful county. With good connections by road and rail to Birmingham, the South West and London, it is an excellent location to live and work.

The historic, cathedral city of Worcester has been a location for trade and commerce since Roman times.Today the city has a population of around 93,300 and, as the county town, Worcester is the main centre within Worcestershire for administrative services, jobs, shopping and tourism.

It's a little known fact that Worcester's beautiful Guildhall has received its fair share of Royal patronage over its long history; many will remember Queen Elizabeth II's visits in 2001 and 2012 but how about King George III on a sunny day in August 1788?

Along with Queen Charlotte and three of the princesses, he pronounced the Assembly Room - now a function/meeting room - on the top floor of The Guildhall - 'a handsome gallery' and drank a toast to 'prosperity to the city and the Corporation of Worcester'.

The portrait of the King - still hanging in the Assembly Room today - was presented by him to the city to commemorate his visit.

We are very pleased to welcome our MP for Worcester Mr Robin Walker together with The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Paul Denham and the Mayoress Lyn Denham.
Our distinguished guests will be touring the show, chatting to visitors and exhibitors. We thank them and many others for all of their help and support shown towards this event.

10 Minute Surgeries

Take advantage of our 'Ten Minute Surgeries' programme to quiz our experts at the show.

When out and about promoting this show, there has been a great deal of interest in the forthcoming changes to the state pension and the relaxation of rules on how people take their pensions. But an even hotter topic is what is going to happen to ladies born in the 1950s who, due to Government changes, now find themselves expecting a much lower amount of pension than they thought they would get.

As always, we will have Paul from The Pensions Advisory Service coming along to answer your pension queries and give some advice on what to do about it.

Celia from Tax Help for Older People will be here again helping you to get your head around the latest changes to tax allowances and how they affect older people.

The nearest parking is in the Copenhagen Street Car park - (postcode WR1 2HB). To find out more please follow this link .

Finally, The Guildhall itself is a wonderful building and one of which the citizens of Worcester are justifiably proud. So, if you haven't been before, do plan enough time to take in the wonderful paintings, collections and amazingly decorated ceilings on display - and don't forget to ask to see the cells below the Court Room!
