The Oliver Bird Hall, Solihull

The Oliver Bird Hall, Church Hill Road, Solihull B91 3RQ was the venue for the 55+ and Retirement Roadshow on 29th October 2011.

Solihull is at the heart of England. It is at the heart of history. Roman legions tramped the lands and rested at Meriden; Anglo-Saxons hunted from hills like Elmdon (hill of the elms).

In the years following the Norman Conquest, traders traversed the Midlands between centres of commerce. The Shakespeares prospered in the district and William wrote about the Forest of Arden.

Solihull is highly regarded as an area in which to live and work. Nearly three quarters of Solihull is defined as Green Belt - with an abundance of parks and public open spaces - very much living up to Solihull's motto 'Urbs in Rure ; 'the town in the country'.

It also has a wealth of high-quality leisure facilities, golf courses, an arts complex and sports centres.

Solihull Town Centre has a vibrant and cosmopolitan atmosphere and is famous for its outstanding shopping and buzzy, cafe culture atmosphere.

A shoppers’ paradise, you can find all the major designer labels and retail brands in the town including Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Fabiana Filippi, Armani, add Pandora Hollister, Superdry, Space NK, Office, Hobbs, the only John Lewis department store in the Midlands and hundreds of high street favourites.

The town has a fantastic selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, with something for every taste and pocket. Just some of the popular venues include The Delhi Restaurant, Nandos, Wagamama, Giraffe, Pizza Express, Coast to Coast, Slug & Lettuce, Cafe Rouge, Metro Bar & Grill, Pret A Manger, handmade burger Co., add Ask Italian and Panchuili, McDonalds and Pizza Hut.

There is so much to see and do in Solihull, whether you are on a business trip, a short break for shopping, here for a conference, concert, show, or on a family holiday. Whatever your reason for visiting Solihull you will find a warm welcome.
